Meditative Reflections
Nobody studies peace. There are no courses in peace, no examinations, no discoveries, and alas, no advances. We are no farther on the road to peace than were the ancient Greek city-states, and perhaps we’re farther away.  -- Sydney J. Harris

Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding.  -- Albert Einstein
Ringing of the Church Bell
Prelude Gethsemane (from Godspell) Schwartz/Tebelak
Scott Nelson, soloist
Choral Introit Deep Within Haas
(Jeremiah 31:33, Ezekiel 36:26, Joel 2:12)
Deep within I will plant my law, not on stone, but in your heart. Follow me, I will bring you back, you will be my own, and I will be your God.
Hymn Once To Ev’ry Man and Nation
Call to Worship Bob Petrus

Leader:  We dare to imagine a world
People:  Where hunger has no chance to show its face
Leader:  We dare to dream of a world
People:  Where war and terror are afraid to leave their mark
Leader:  We long to believe in a world
People:  Of hope unchained and lives unfettered
Leader:  We dare to share in the creation of a world
All:  Where your people break free.

Lord’s Prayer (“debts/debtors”)
Our Father, who art in heaven,
      Hallowed be Thy name.
      Thy kingdom come,
      Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
      And forgive us our debts
      As we forgive our debtors;
And lead us not into temptation,
      But deliver us from evil,
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power,
       and the glory forever. Amen

Hiroshima Survivor Speaks at Today at Christ Church: Mr. Kenji Kitagawa, a survivor of Hiroshima, is coming to NJ through the Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation. He will speak and present a slide show here at the church today, March 9, 2008 from 2:00 – 3:30 pm in Barnwell Hall. Joining him will be Steven Leeper, chairman of the foundation, whose role is to spread Japan’s anti-nuclear weapons philosophy across the globe. For more information contact Michael Mitchell at mitchellsensi@gmail.com.

Chuck Rush’s Pastor Parish Committee will be meeting with him within the next several weeks. The purpose of the Pastor Parish Committee is to support and maintain an open and healthy relationship between our pastor and the members of the congregation. The committee serves in two primary ways: as an advisory group to the minister and as support for his leadership. As an advisory group, the committee shares ideas, hopes, expectations and concerns of the congregation with the pastor. As support for the pastor, the committee interprets roles, functions, expectations and needs of the pastor to the congregation. With this purpose in mind, please feel free to make known to any members of the committee topics which you would like discussed. The committee members are Deb Previdi, Jane Johanson, Michael Mooney, Charles Tsiang, John Vigilante, and Cary Hardy, Chair.

All Girls Youth Group will be meeting on Sunday evening, March 16 from 5-7 pm at 48 Blackburn Place, the DeSanto residence.

Many thanks to all the youth and parents who participated in the assembly of Caregiver Kits on February 24: We assembled 150 kits that will be delivered by World Vision to medical relief workers in Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, and parts of South America. These kits make a dramatic difference in the quality and longevity of life for persons living with AIDS, and we celebrate the opportunity to contribute !Many, many thanks to Joe Salisbury for his help and contribution!

Do you get email from Christ Church? We maintain a congregation email list at Christ Church which is used by staff to send out 2-3 emails a week, typically, containing breaking news, schedule changes, plans for the upcoming weekend, and requests for volunteer help. If you thought you were on this list but haven’t received email lately, chances are your email software (Outlook or Outlook express, for example) or your ISP (Verizon, Comcast, AOL…) is blocking spam more vigorously than before and has begun blocking this email. We can help !Our Information Technology (IT) Committee can help you adjust spam-blocking filters. Just ask Chuck, Julie, or Paul at coffee hour, or drop an email to staff@ccsnj.org or itcom@ccsnj.org. If you’ve never been on the congregation email list, we’d love to add you – please let us know. By the way, we also have a Prayer email list that is an extension of the prayer concerns portion of Sunday worship, and everyone is welcome to join that list, as well.
