Deacons: Bob Petrus and Coleman Smith are the deacons for the month of November. Deacons not only assist our pastors with Sunday services, but are also available to congregants for prayer concerns and pastoral visits. We encourage you to contact either deacon for further information.

The Board of World Fellowship (BWF) will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, November 11th, at the apartment of Bob Petrus, 32 Black’s Lane, Apt. 1, Springfield. The BWF is “the outreach arm of Christ Church with a mission to serve and facilitate the endeavors of local, national, and international communities through financial and/or volunteer support organizations, projects, and emergency relief efforts” (BWF Guidelines, August 2003).

The BWF members urge Christ Church congregants, who have been closely involved with organizations and projects which would prosper further with BWF help, to contact any Board member. The names and e-mail addresses of Board members can be found in the “Lists” on the Member Pages of the church website, www.ccsnj.org. Please contact any Board member for information and applications. The Board truly welcomes supporting the volunteer efforts and interests of our congregation.

Coffee Hour Hosts: Hosting opportunities are available on November 16 and 30, and December 28. See Sally Weggeland at Coffee Hour.

Christ Church will hold a Food Drive from November 2nd through November 23. As you probably know, area Food Banks are receiving fewer donations while at the same time experiencing greater demand. Let’s do what we can to help. Please bring non perishable food items and frozen turkeys to the church. Turkeys can go into the freezer and non perishable items can be placed on the table between the Elevator and the Nursery on the first floor.

Girls’ Night Out at Beadlux, Thursday, November 13th, 6:45: Please join us for some wine and appetizers while we use our creativity to make jewelry for ourselves or as a gift. Please email Carol Angle at jerseyangle@aolcom.

INTERWEAVE’S STORED HONEY OF THE SOUL SAMPLER: Fourth Annual Fund-Raising Art Show and Sale: Interweave announces its fourth annual Art Show and Sale on November 8th and 9th to benefit the organization and to showcase local and regional artists. The show will be held at Interweave’s Summit Center, conveniently located in downtown Summit at Calvary Episcopal Church, 31 Woodland Avenue, at the corner of Woodland and DeForest Avenues. Hours for the show are Saturday, November 8th, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, November 9th, 1-4 p.m.

STORED HONEY OF THE SOUL will feature a mix of art in various media: oils, pottery, pastel, photography, watercolor, sculpture, prints, and more. Additionally, the Boutique will offer smaller works, both inspirational and eclectic, by featured artists. These items are suitable for gift-giving, so come do your holiday shopping early! On Saturday, Nov. 8th, lunch will be available for $5 in the café. There will be a silent auction of exotic items both days, refreshments will be available, and artists will be present throughout the weekend to discuss their works.

Interweave is a community learning center serving Essex, Union and Morris counties, teaching skills for holistic living that strengthen wellness, deepen spirituality and promote the common good. Interweave equips people to face the challenges of this critical turning-point in the world’s history, through varied offerings to center one’s awareness, cultivate support networks and care for our bodies and soul.
